How to Believe in Yourself? (Have the Motivation to ACTUALLY Believe in Yourself)

6:10 PM

No one believes in me? I keep getting rejected? No one sees my own potential? The key is that this mentality creates a sense of dependency on ANOTHER individual(s). I like to refer to James Altucher's Choose Yourself book for a quick minute. We live in a society where they're gate keepers and we have to somehow be chosen by another individual to feel fully fulfilled; to feel worth something. This can draw parallels to employment, relationships, and so forth. However, as the tides turn, things like new media, entrepreneurship, and new technologies are being innovated every minute.

There's more of an abundance of resources now to do whatever we want, yet a majority of people still live in this, ''I need them to choose me so I can live life fulfilled, and I'll never be happy until then'' mentality. I'm not saying believe in yourself even if you suck horribly and everything you do is utter garbage. I'm not saying to be delusional and ignore reality. Be mindful. What I'm trying to say is that instead of investing in others to invest back in yourself; why not choose yourself. Why not be aware of your own weaknesses and strengths, and redefine them. Always challenge yourself each and every day to be better. I want you look at my first video and my very recent. I know what I'm capable of, not in a cocky condescending way, but with a mentality of, ''if I put in the work that no one else does, I'll get to where I want to get.'' I could've easily listened to those that said they were naysayers, but guess what? I kept moving forward (Rocky impersonation goes here).

Am I where I want to be on this YouTube and my own brand thing? Of course not. Are my videos are the best and I don't ever want to improve any more? Of course not. Am I never looking for mentors and learning from other creators? Of course not. But thing is, I choose myself. Here's a little relevant anecdote. I always try to genuinely reach out to those that are deemed in my eyes the end point of where I want to eventually be, but I either get a blind eye, or a subtle rejection. But if I put myself in their shoes, I'm a small channel trying to leech off of a big channel (which isn't necessarily true) but it's easy to assume. Despite all the rejection, despite all lack of a mentor, I study those that I truly admire.

This ranges from FouseyTube to Casey Neistat, not in terms of numbers, but in terms of work ethic, their numbers and fame are just by-products, and how despite no one believing them from the very beginnings, they are where they are because they chose themselves.
